So we have all heard that superstition – walk under a ladder and you’ll have bad luck. Strangely, the origin of that tale comes from an old Christian belief about the Holy Trinity. The ladder triangle formation represented the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Walking through or disrupting the triangle was seen as blasphemy. Well, ladder safety has nothing to do with bad luck but is all about common sense.
- Here are few ladder tips to keep you from tipping!
- Read all warnings on your ladder
- Follow weight restrictions
- Do not use if rungs are missing or ladder is wobbly
- Do not stand ladder on un-level ground
- Do not stand on top rung
- Do not stretch too far to either side
- Climb ladder face front
- Watch for overhead electrical lines or obstacles
- Don’t carry objects that are too heavy
- Do not allow children to climb ladders
Common sense will keep you safe and sound. Your ER visit will slow down that project more than the time to use your equipment properly and who can afford the co-pays anyway. Good LUCK!
