8 Things Every HIP Chicks Ought to Possess

We Chicks are capable of so much.  We raise kids, go to college, have careers. Why stop at fixing the toilet or hanging your own art for goodness sake?  But you gotta have the right tools for the job.  Here’s a short list of the right stuff that every Chick ought to call her own!

Ladies, we are talking basics here but you gotta start somewhere.

  1. Tape measure – not a dollar store tape, but a 25 ft steel tape with marks for 1/8 inch.[fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”]
  2. Level – Go for 3 ft level for most projects but a mini (1 ft) is handy for small jobs
  3. Hammer – really you should own 2 hammers – a 16 oz claw and a 8 oz mini for small jobs
  4. Ratcheting screwdriver set – Best $10 investment, handheld screwdriver with interchangeable tips
  5. Needle nose pliers – many uses, including cutting wires and fishing stuff from garbage disposal!
  6. Utility knife – get a solid knife with replaceable blades and change them often
  7. Cordless Drill/screwdriver – THE most useful tool in my home!  Opt for the 12 volt, lithium – powerful enough for most DIYers and lightweight for us Chicks. Crazy chicks like me go for 18 volts of screwing power. Work faster, not harder!
  8. GUTS – you just have to have some confidence. Start small but try. You may really surprise yourself!

Remember- fear is just the uncomfortable feeling of pushing yourself to new limits!  Bring it on.
