I am revisiting this great makeover in did a few years ago. I really wish I had before pictures! This 1990’s kitchen used to have dark green flowered wall paper, brass knobs and green formica. The old wallpaper was well applied and therefore a bitch to get off, the homeowner wanted to DIY that part and she did a beautiful job but it took her weeks. She opted for organic wallpaper removers and it was a bit slower than the smelly strong stuff. But it got done, BYE BYE wallpaper.
My client had formica cabinets that had lost their appeal but were in decent shape. So I did a wrap on the outer edges of the cabinets with bead board. It covered up the worn flat sides and added texture and character to the kitchen. The kitchen was painted “Bagel” by Sherwin Williams for warm neutral backdrop.
I then added new forged iron handles in a mission style and helped they homeowners select a gorgeous granite that picked up cream, chocolate and green hues. The last element was the installation of a chocolate glass backsplash in a subway pattern to give it a classic mission feel with little modern pop. Stunning if I say so myself!
