DIY has gone to the dogs!

So let’s do a DIY treat for our pets. Of course, DIY projects don’t always have to involve hammer and nails. My kids tackled a cooking project for the canines. They created homemade “pupsicles” for their furry friends. This project was fun and engaging for the kids and dogs (they wouldn’t take their eyes off the chef).

Here is our recipe for a healthy, cool treat for man’s best friend.

Pupsicles

Ingredients: Low-sodium chicken broth, water, dry dog food and carrot shreds (diced apples would be great too). Remember never give grapes or raisins to dogs, they are toxic to them.

Mix 1 can of broth with 1 can of water in a measuring cup. Using a muffin pan to shape your pupsicles, fill muffin pans nearly full. Top each pupsicle off with a few pieces of dog food and carrot shreds. Freeze overnight, pop each pupsicle out of the pan and place them in a zip-top bag. Serve outdoors. Your dog gets a healthy, tasty treat on a hot day and your kids get to dabble in simple food prep that bonds them with their buddies.

Here is a silly video with my son.
