Eh Germs. It is that season again of runny noses, GI bugs and flu. We get flu shot, disinfect our hands and eat our immune supplements but we often forget to eliminate public enemy #1 – the GERM cell. Germs are on everything, and as a former RN I will not go there and gross you out but hand washing can only do so much. We need to get the germs off the stuff we touch in the first place, so we don’t continue to come in contact and redistribute them.
Here is an easy DIY task to keep your family healthy – it is cleaning! I know you clean your home, scrub toilets and mop your floors but we forget about those everyday surfaces that can harbor germs. I’m talking about those communal surfaces like phones, computer mouse, door knobs, light switches and cabinet handles. We clearly know the toilet handle is germy but don’t overlook germs on the bread cabinet handle too.
So this fall, go a little further in your cleaning, Grab some Mean Green Anti-Bacterial spray and a paper towel. Give those surfaces a wipe down, be careful not to get electronics “wet”, just a damp wiping will suffice. Mean Green smells really good for a powerhouse of germ killing. It has a faint citrus smell that is not overwhelming. I find it at Walmart, Lowes and the Depot, too.
Now as much as I love DIY, I am all for delegating jobs too. I have 3 boys and they have an Excel spreadsheet of chores. This disinfecting job is one of them, 2 a month they wipe down all those surfaces with Mean Green. Of course, make sure this is an age appropriate task for your kids but make the munchkins help keep the home clean, after all they make most of the mess and doing chores builds responsible people!
One thing I really like about Mean Green – they are made in the USA. Give it a shot!
