Have you been singing the shower head blues? Install a new shower head then you’ll be singing a happy song. Full length version of original airing.
Materials needed
- Shower head of choice
- Adjustable wrench
- Teflon pipe tape (may be included in shower head kit)
- Old toothbrush
- Old rag
HIP Chicks Tips
- You do not need to turn off the water main supply to replace shower head.
- If using old shower head in another location and want to avoid scratching the metal, place old rag around shower head under where you place the wrench.
- If shower head is difficult to twist off, use a second wrench to hold the pipe (shower arm) coming from the wall while you twist the other wrench around the shower head itself.
- Be careful not to twist or bend the shower arm itself. A buddy may be helpful to hold one wrench.
- If rust and other hard water mineral build up are making it tough to twist off the old shower head, try using WD-40 or CLR on connection to loosen mineral deposits and free connection. (Follow us instructions on both WD-40 and CLR).
- Remember – the Teflon tape goes on in a clock wise direction, 3-4 times around is plenty
- Use caution not to slip in tub/shower if work area becomes wet
