Last week, I got a much needed escape from my life as a busy mom and entrepreneur. A few days in Miami with friends, away from social media and power tools, would do me good. After picking up our fun little Fiat, we headed to South Beach, stopping at a Subway restaurant to grab a quick sandwich. I made a beeline to the ladies room and realized my vacation wasn’t starting yet after all!
I took care of business and found that the potty wouldn’t flush. I flipped the handle a few times more and… nothing. I noticed when I came into the Subway there were only two ladies working the counter and they had quite a line of customers before them. I just hated to leave the potty un-“flushed” for them to deal with. Curiosity got the best of me; I had to see if it was an easy fix so I opened the tank lid.
Problem identified – toilets don’t flush when the chain is off the flapper. So being the crazy woman I am, I simply lifted the end of the chain, hooked it back on the end of the flush handle and viola! The toilet was fixed and flushed. (Remember, tank water is clean water from the supply line, so don’t be grossed out) I scrubbed my hands and went out to the counter to tell the ladies. They were so excited and grateful; they knew it wasn’t working right but did not have the time or know-how to deal with it. They were going to have to call the maintenance crew and wait… I gave them a little instruction for the next time it fails to flush so they can make sure every Subway customer gets a “Fresh” bowl!
Moral of the story – If you have skill or knowledge to help improve the lives of those around you: PASS IT ON!
