Tools For School – Ultimate College Gear

It’s time for teachers, time for books and time for teachers’ dirty looks.  We’ve all been there but you can avoid those dirty looks by being the most prepared, most organized kid on campus!  Start the year off in organized fashion but showing up well equipped!   As you pack up for college this fall, don’t forget to bring the tools you need to get organized.  We’re not just talking binders and flash drives.  You’ll need a few household tools to assemble things, hang stuff and get settled.  Here are the essentials.

  • Hammer- simple 16 oz is perfect
  • Screwdriver- Philips and slotted screwdrivers in a few sizes
  • Frog Tape – there will be posters and things to hang and frog tape won’t mar the walls
  • Rubber Mallet – this $5 tool is perfect for tapping together those IKEA-like pieces
  • 3M Command strips – bring a variety of Command strips i.e. hooks, art hangers, etc.
  • Power strip surge protectors – protect electronics from power failures
  • Extension cords- pack two 6 ft cords
  • Tape measure – 15 foot is perfect size for the dorm
